Our Story

BrainSoul

Our mission is to provide support and foster awareness and education for adolescents regarding mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, teen suicide prevention, and more.

BrainSoul is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness about mental health in our community and provide support to those who need it. BrainSoul goes out into the community to advocate for teen mental health awareness and let every teen know that they are not alone in their mental health journey and that there is always someone out there who is willing to talk to them. BrainSoul was founded by Mujtaba Shahzad, a high school student, after he saw the increase in mental health issues and suicides across the globe. He saw that many people felt lost and hopeless, especially because they didn’t know who to reach out to or how to get better. So, he founded BrainSoul because he wanted to create a foundation for spreading mental health awareness and talking to community members to ensure that they know that they matter. BrainSoul has since grown with multiple volunteer members who work hard to spread awareness about mental health and talk about the issues that are facing our community as we all strive to get into a state of better well-being overall. 100% of all donations to BrainSoul go towards our programs. All donations are tax-deductible.

Mujtaba Shahzad

A young leader passionate about mental health advocacy, research, and education for adolescents.

Mujtaba Shahzad is a high school junior from Las Vegas, Nevada, who believes that mental health awareness is vital for supporting the teens in our community, who are our future. Through leading BrainSoul, Mujtaba has had the opportunity to work with multiple teens, groups, and organizations in the local community and beyond to provide support for mental health and offer services. His efforts have created the speech program, where Mujtaba goes to different places and organizations to provide speeches; the care package program; support circles for the community; and more. Mujtaba worked with legislators to pass Teen Mental Health Awareness Day on October 15th, which seeks to raise awareness about teen mental health and bring importance to the issue of mental health issues across the globe as a result of increasing stressors. Mujtaba is passionate about helping out the community and hopes to always be an advocate for mental health because he knows that mental health cannot be dealt with alone and in silence.
